Who Is Eligible?
Applicant: - Must be an outstanding male or female scholar or teacher in the education field -Needs to have successfully completed undergraduate studies as an education major at an accredited institution of higher learning - Needs to have been or be a resident of the Phi Chapter area (Buchanan and Fayette counties in Iowa) - May be presently teaching in the Phi Chapter area schools The recipient should be willing to teach for three (3) years following the completion of his or her degree. The recipient selection is not based on financial need. Recipient may apply for a second teaching fellowship. |
Teaching Fellowship Program
The award is approximately $3,000, depending on the interest rates. The recipient will be notified when the decision is made. The award will be presented at the May meeting of Phi Chapter. The recipient should be present if at all possible. The check will be sent to the recipient upon receipt of his/her registration to an accredited institution of higher learning. The fellowship may be used for summer school, night classes, etc., while working on the advanced degree. Deadline In order to be eligible for the current year’s award, applications must be postmarked by March 1, 2016, and mailed to a Co-Chair of the Dr. Louise P. Herring Fellowship Committee. |
